De J-Fall 2013 app (created by Info Support) bevat het gehele programma van J-Fall 2013 op 6 november in het Hart van Holland in Nijkerk. Naast het beursprogramma zijn via de apps ook de abstracts van de sessies en de bio's van de sprekers te bekijken.

Yesterday was Community Day and a bit low on sessions, but day 2 of JavaOne really got technical if you wanted to. And we wanted it to. Since we had to finish up yesterday’s post only this morning and it’s half an hour drive we missed our first planned session about the Science and Art of Backward Compatibility. As opposed to Oracle OpenWorld, all JavaOne sessions are concentrated at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square, Hotel Nikko and Parc 55 Wyndham – a short distance from the Moscone buildings. Here’s an overview of the various sessions we attended:

So Jeroen and I went to Oracle OpenWorld/JavaOne 2013 – the event to be at if you’re a professional Java software developer. Or do other Oracle stuff. Profiling is essential when you want to improve performance of an application. To properly profile, you should minimize the differences between an actual production situation and the situation you are profiling. This means that your test data should be the same but also the hardware should be as similar as possible. The best possible scenario is to actually profile the production environment. You can run most profiling tools (e.g. VisualVM) on your local development machine and have it create a connection to the production environment.
