Surviving the Cloud Native storm!

An architecture without a Cloud Native foundation will slow you down in an ever accelerating world!

Are you working with or interested in Cloud Native topics? Do you also want to accelerate your Java development and deployments? Do you want to discuss these topics with likeminded people and experienced Cloud Native architects and Java developers?

Thales and Profit4Cloud are organizing an evening about Cloud and Cloud Native technologies. Join Daniël van Gils (Thales) and Dick Eimers (Profit4Cloud) and let them show you what is new, now and what is next in Cloud technology. You will be updated or even get upgraded to become a Cloud Native citizen in this exciting evening.

Dick Eimers – Current State and Future of Cloud

Everywhere I go people are either thinking about moving to the Cloud or evaluating their first steps and debating what their next step should be, and for good reason. The most well-rehearsed argument for Cloud, public Cloud to be precise, is its unparalleled ability to scale.

During this talk we look at the current state and future of modern Cloud platforms. This includes different kinds of offerings, such as application-platform-as-a-service and functions-as-a-service. Furthermore, we discuss the growing interest in serverless architectures and the special role containers and containers orchestration platforms play.

Dick is a Solution Architect at Profit4Cloud who holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Utrecht University and specializes in software engineering and architecture with over a decade of experience crafting software. He is convinced the future of IT is in the Cloud, one way or another.

Daniël van Gils – Navigating the Cloud Native storm and how to survive it

Are you preparing for the Cloud Native storm? What kind of baggage do you need to get your ticket for this awesome ride? Daniël will navigate the Cloud Native storm and show you how to survive it and adapt it to yours.

However, what is Cloud Native, anyway? How do you implement a Cloud Native strategy and how to grow a culture with a positive Cloud Native attitude? What about the state of the Cloud Native landscape and to keep up with all the innovations? How does this apply to the Naval domain and Thales in general?

Daniël will dive deep into the world of containers, orchestrators and learn which steps you need to take to become a Cloud Native JAVA developer! He will drill down from high-level abstractions all the way down to some (live) Java code. Get your admission during this talk and start your Cloud Native journey.

Daniël van Gils is a Cloud Native Architect at Thales. He helps Thales to succeed with Cloud Native thinking & technology in the Naval domain. He’s been involved in the high tech, creative technologies, and gaming industries. An accomplished creative technologist and architect, Daniel has vast and varied experience in application development, agile workflows, lecturing and building cloud native technologies at scale. In his spare time he experiments with strawberries in his backyard, likes to surf and practices improvisation theater. He is one of the original founders of NLJUG back in the days.
